Shenk Company recognizes the critical importance of Corporate Social Responsibility. Although the concepts on this page are nothing new to us, we believe it is important that we share our business approach and beliefs. The ideas and philosophies on this page are not all inclusive nor is our CSR program stagnant. It will continue to evolve as our organization grows and as new issues arise. An example of this evolution is how we have responded to the COVID 19 pandemic. We have worked with our employees and business partners to create an environment that is safe for business to continue. Like many other businesses, we have learned that working remotely is a viable option and for those who cannot do so, we have implemented cleaning protocols and provided COVID 19 care bags to employees who need to be onsite to do their work. We look forward to moving our CSR initiative up the maturity curve and tackling future challenges.

Shenk values its diverse workforce where 24% of our employees are immigrants and 45% are female. We offer competitive wages and provide full time employees with a comprehensive benefits package. We also provide our employees with a safe and healthy workplace where we have not had any significant incidents. We believe that the best indicator of how we treat our employees is the fact that we have very little turnover. The majority of our employees have been with the company for decades. We maintain an open door policy and encourage employee feedback without fear of retaliation.

Shenk Company also strives to work with business partners who share our same values. We are members of the Fair Labor Association which helps us monitor our existing and future business partners.

Shenk conducts its business with a high level of awareness of its impact on the environment and seeks ways to minimize that impact. Reduce, reuse and recycle concepts are integrated into the company’s operations. When possible, we use the most environmentally friendly inks and recycle screen printing chemicals available. Recognizing that packaging is an important aspect of our environmental footprint, we have eliminated plastic bags, now using recycled paper bags, and recycled carboard boxes. We have also introduced a new line of 100% recycled t-shirts. These t-shirts are of excellent quality and have become a popular item with our customers.

Shenk is committed to conducting business in a fair and ethical manner and it eschews corrupt business practices such as kickbacks and inappropriate relationships with business partners and customers. Shenk leverages its membership in the Advertising Specialty Institute to help identify new business partners who possess reputations as fair and equitable organizations. Interactions with business partners and customers are based on transparency and honesty. We also apply our experience in the industry to identify safe products that meet our customers needs. We have developed strong relationships with the best business partners to provide our consumers with safe products that meet their unique needs.

Shenk maintains extensive involvement in the Central Pennsylvania community. It is a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg https://bgchbg.org/ and the Harrisburg Riverboat Society (the Pride of the Susquehanna) https://harrisburgriverboat.com/ to whom the organization has donated significant time, products and money. It is actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce and supports employees in their charitable endeavors. Since 2016, Shenk has contributed $183,400 in monetary contributions and donated inventory to local organizations.
